Medico-legal work involves the practitioners providing evidence in the form of a report by assessing and using scientific objective medical evidence. that can assist the authorities or the courts to reach a decision or verdict, It is therefore the study and application of medical and scientific interface and methods to be able to present the findings in an appropriate manner.
The reports can be requested by the courts or authorities through the solicitors involved in the case. We have years of experience in working & collaborating with solicitors. Our medico-legal expert psychiatric witnesses are Section 12 approved.
Type of Psychiatry & Psychology Expert Witnesses
Medical/ Scientific fact- Professional witnesses giving evidence from knowledge obtained in a professional capacity with evidence confined to matters of fact (e.g. doctor giving evidence on treatment given to the subject of the proceedings)
Medical opinion – As an expert witness appointed by one side or the other to interpret the facts using clinical expertise (usually a consultant or other specialist)

Information Required Prior to a Job Being Accepted:
Each request for report and letter of instruction requires to be checked by a clinician. The following information needs to be provided before we can consider taking on your assignment and complete the report.
- A clear background to the case and definition of type of expertise required.
- Particular questions the instructor wants to be answered.
- Confirmation of whether the expert will be required to make independent investigations & enquiry in addition to that provided by the solicitors.
